Udupi, June 3: Congress party candidate, advocate Prasanna Kumar Shetty submitted nomination to election officer T Bhoobalan on Saturday, June 2 for Siddapur zilla panchayat by election.
District congress vice president Raju Poojary, KPCC members Raghurama Shetty, H Manjayya Shetty, Vandse block president Sampigedi Sanjiva Shetty, Byndoor block president Madan Kumar, Kundapur block president Malyadi Shivarama Shetty, party leader Vasudeva Yadiyala, zilla panchayat member Gauri Devadiga, taluk panchayat member Vasudeva Pai, Udaya Poojary Chittoor, APMC president Sharath Kumar Shetty, Udayakumar Shetty Adikodlu, Kiran Hegde Amparu, Pradeep Shetty Gudibettu, Nagappa Kothari, Vadamballi Shetty and others were present.
Speaking on the occasion he said that he knows the pulse of the constituency. “Our government is in power in the state. Therefore, it is easy to conduct development in the constituency. I am facing elections in the guidance of former MLA K Gopala Poojary and member of Vidhan Parishat Pratapchandra Shetty and people of all the categories will support me.”
Prasanna Kumar works in Kundapur as advocate and notary. He plunged in politics when he was a student and was the district president of student’s Congress (NSIU) and district youth Congress president. He is the district chief secretary of Congress at present. He has served as the member of Keradi grama panchayat, vice president and president. He also has the experience of being KDP member.
Amaranath Shetty files nomination as independent candidate
Amaranath Shetty, brother of former zilla panchayat member late Taranath Shetty filed his nomination as independent candidate on Saturday. Election officer T Bhoobalan accepted the nomination.
Hosangadi grama panchayat member Jayarama Ganiga, former grama panchayat member Harish Kulal, grama panchayat member Eeramma, entrepreneur Gopala, Ravi Shetty, Govinda, Laxmi, Hosangadi school SDMC president Suresh were present.
Amaranath Shetty speaking to reporters said that he is election aspirant. “My brother has served the constituency well. Congress had consented for my candidature. But as BJP did not agree, I am contesting as independent. I had campaigned with my brother and activists are supporting me. I am bound by the opinion of people.”
Amaranath Shetty, son of late Dr Sanjiva Shetty and Sulochana Shetty is a resident of Haladi. He is the managing trustee of Haladi Marluchikku temple. He is 41 years old and holds B A degree. He is a farmer and is identified in religious and social sectors.
JD(S) candidate Arun Shetty files nomination
Arun Shetty Siddapur filed his nomination to election officer T Bhoobalanfor the by election as JDS candidate on Saturday, June 2.
JD(S) district president Yogish Shetty, Byndoor block president Sandesh Bhat, Kundapur block president Hussain Haikadi, party members Srikanth Adiga, Shalini Shetty Kenchanoor, Ravi Shetty, Mansoor Ibrahim, Ramesh TT Road, Nithin Shetty, Jayasheela Shetty, Ranjith Shetty, Sudarshan Shetty, Maruthi Mogaveera and others were present.
Arun Shetty said that he has complete knowledge of the constituency as he hails from the constituency. “Besides that, our party is in power in the state in the collaboration of Congress party. Development will be possible in the constituency if I get elected. The people here should bless me,” he said.
Siddapur Karekodlu resident Arun Shetty is a farmer. He is 28 years old and studied till SSLC. He is a JD(S) activist and faces elections for the first time. He is married and active in labour organizations.
BJP candidate Rohith Kumar Shetty files nomination
BJP candidate Rohith Kumar Shetty filed his nomination to Tahsildar Ravi S in the office of Kundapur election officer. The by election for Siddapur will be held on June 14.
Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty, BJP Byndoor mandala president Sadananda Uppinakudru, chief secretary Deepak Kumar Shetty and Balachandra Bhat were present.
