Mangaluru, Jun 2: St Mary’s Central School, Kinnigoli has a history of six years. Since its establishment the school has emerged as the educational powerhouse in the vicinity of Kinnigoli. The new pre-primary school was the need of the hour as the previous building was quite old and it was very difficult to accommodate the growing number of students in the building. As Fr Alfred J Pinto saw the vision of St Mary’s Central School, Fr Vincent Monteiro magnanimously took the challenge of constructing the new building for pre-primary section. The dream came true on June 1 when the new building was inaugurated and blessed by the invited dignitaries.
June 1 will be remembered as a historical day in the life of St Mary’s Central School, Kinnigoli.
The correspondent Fr Vincent Monteiro cut the ribbon and formally inaugurated the building. This was followed by the opening of the doors of classrooms by the guests. The prayer service and the blessing of the school was led by Fr Alfred J Pinto, the parish priest of Mai De Dues Church, Puttur. After blessing the new building a short felicitation programme was organized at the church hall.
The newly elected MLA Umanath Kotyan was honored for being elected as the MLA of Mulki-Moodbidri constituency. Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta was felicitated for his magnanimous hard work toward the institution. Those who worked tirelessly were also felicitated. Fr Vincent Monteiro was felicitated and honored for his leadership and vision. The citation was read out by Sr Nirmal and it was presented to him by the honorable guests on the dais. Fr Paul Sequeira, parish priest of Corpus Christi Church Moodbidri, Umanath Kotyan, Fr Alfred Pinto and Fr Vincento Monteiro addressed the gathering. Philomena Sequeira, president of Kinnigoli Grama panchayath, Francis Cutinha, chairman of MCC Bank Ltd here, Sunil Menezes, general manager of MCC Bank were among the guests of honour.
The Principal of SMCS, Kinnigoli Fr Sunil Praveen Pinto welcomed the gathering. Shaila Sequeira proposed the vote of thanks. The school choir helped to sing the prayer song and national anthem. Friends and well-wishers came in large number to witness the historical programme. The well organized programme was compered by Vinaya.
