Bengaluru, Jun 2: A public interest litigation (PIL) stands filed in the state high court, seeking to declare swearing-in of Dr G Parameshwar as the deputy chief minister of the state as unconstitutional. The petition is filed by Dr Shekhar S Aiyar, resident of Mathura Nagar in Mysuru.
The PIL was filed on Friday June 1. In all probability, it may be taken up for hearing on Monday, June 4 or Tuesday, June 5.
In his PIL, Dr Shekhar has argued that there is no mention about the post of deputy chief minister anywhere in the Indian Constitution. He has therefore reasoned that this post is unconstitutional. Based on this argument, he wants the high court to declare the swearing in of Parameshwar as illegal and unconstitutional.
He has named chief secretary of the government, under secretary to the department of personnel and administrative reforms, secretary to the governor and Dr G Parameshwar as respondents.
