Kundapur, May 28: "When children are provided with new books at the beginning of the academic year, their excitement increases. With this motto in mind, we have been distributing free notebooks to children before the start of school since 15 years. In addition to providing good education to children, parents have the responsibility of inculcating culture and values in them," said Dr G Shankar, promoter of G Shankar Family Trust.
Dr G Shankar was speaking after inaugurating the free notebook distributing programme for 5,100 brilliant but financially poor students of all sections of the society, organized by G Shankar Family Trust, Udupi and Mogaveera Youth Organisation, Udupi at Rotary Laxminarasimha Kala Mandir in Kundapur for the limits of Kundapur.
He also said, "This year we are distributing free notebooks to 5,100 students of Udupi district and 3,000 students of Shivamogga district. These books are being distributed with the noble intention that nobody, belonging to any sections of the society, should get deprived of education."

Parents have also started the culture of providing mobile to children if they score good marks in the examination. Children spend most of their time on social sites as the internet is easily available. If the children get addicted to social sites like Whatsapp, Facebook and Twitter, then their intelligence gets restricted to these sites only. Hence, parents should try to keep children away from mobile phones as far as possible."
