Udupi, May 26: “In the last four years, Modi-led government in the centre has not introduced a single policy for the betterment of the people. They came to power by saying that they will bring ‘Acche Din’, but there are no people friendly policies from the government,” said Geetha Wagle, president, Udupi district Mahila Congress.
She was addressing the protest organized by Udupi district Mahila Congress here in Ajjarkad on Saturday, May 26. She said, “People blindly opened Jan Dhan bank accounts believing that they will get Rs 15 lac. Not a single rupee has been credited to those accounts. Crores of rupees were allotted for cleaning the Ganga river. But the river is also not cleaned. The holy water of the river has been polluted.”
Addressing the protestors, Amrith Shenoy said, “BJP came to power saying that it will bring back black money, and reduce fuel prices. Unemployed youths are also not given proper job opportunities and the prime minister asks them to sell pakodas. MP of Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituency Shobha Karandlanje is not to be seen in the constituency.”
Further speaking, Amrith Shenoy asked BJP leaders to show a single person or institution which has benefitted from demonetisation. He said, “The economy of the country has crashed after demonetisation. Businesses faced losses due to it. For whose benefit the decision was taken? When Manmohan Singh government was ready to introduce 28% FDI in selected sectors, BJP opposed it. Now they have allowed 100% FDI in certain sectors.”
Protestors shouted slogans against the Modi government.
Janardhan Tonse, Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, Veronica Cornelio and other Congress members took part in the protest.
