Mangaluru: ACT to hold 'Desi Puppy & Kitten Adoption Camp' on May 27

Media Release

Mangaluru, May 26: The Animal Care Trust (ACT), Shakthinagar, regularly conducts free anti rabies vaccination camps, awareness programmes in institutions and adoption camps. One such 'Desi Puppy & Kitten Adoption Camp' is scheduled to be held at School Of Social Work - Roshni Nilaya on May 27 from 10 am to 5 pm featuring over 35 ‘desi’ puppies and 25 ‘desi’ kittens with an aim to find loving homes for these little ones.

With the craze of ‘pure breeds’ and ‘male’ puppies or kittens, these ‘desi’ breeds are left neglected, homeless and many a times face the wrath of people and vehicles on the roads. It is common for people to turn up their nose and only comment on the situation of strays, particularity female ‘desi’ dogs and cats. “Be Indian, Adopt Indian. Let these voiceless beings not suffer on the roads but instead find good homes with loving families,” says Suma Nayak, trustee of ACT.

There is no adoption fee charged, only a nominal registration fee of Rs 200 that helps in covering the basic medical expenses incurred. Potential adopters are requested to bring a valid photo ID for registration.
