Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam likens Karnataka Governor to dogs, triggers row

Mumbai, May 19 (NIE): Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam came under severe flak on Saturday when in a controversial remark he likened Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala to dogs.

“New record of loyalty has been set in this country in such a way that probably everybody in India would now like to name his dog after Vajubhai Vala as nobody else has been more loyal than him,” Nirupam said while interacting with the media here after the developments in Karnataka assembly where BJP leader B S Yediyurappa had to resign as Karnataka Chief Minister without going in for trust vote.

Nirupam was trying to take potshots at the Karnataka governor for inviting the BJP to form a government even while the party didn’t had numbers.

The BJP was quick to react. “Just an hour back Congress President Rahul Gandhi was crying foul about how BJP has undermined democratic institutions of the country and now one of their own city presidents have shown just how the Congress honors such institutions,” said Maharashtra BJP spokesperson Keshav Upadhye. “Nirupam has shown the true Congress culture,” Upadhye said.

After receiving the flack for his remarks, Nirupam apologized for the remarks in a typical way without reverting on his comment and added that the governor needs to resign for murdering the democracy.

"Vajubhai Vala is a human being. How can I make him a dog. I just said that in the best of the virtues of being loyal he has left behind even the dogs. If he feels offended by the statement I apologize for that. However, his excellency has left no stone unturned in murdering the democracy. Would he mind resigning," read Nirupam's tweet later in the day.

Nirupam’s remarks also changed the tone of the TV debates. While it was in favor of the Congress party, after Yediyurappa’s resignation and leaving the assembly hall without waiting for the national anthem, it went completely against the party due to Nirupam’s overzealous reaction.

Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar too criticized Vala. He said that now Vala’s resignation needs to be sought for his partisan approach in inviting the BJP for government formations even while they lacked requisite numbers for the trust vote.

Public have short memories. Actually it is Karma time. What goes around comes around. Amit Shah had likened Congress to termites and in another speech compared opposition to animals like snake, mongoose, rats and so did Yogi Adiyanath. Congress leaders have now become better than the BJP in the use of the power of vocabulary. All this time the BJP were displaying their superiority in this art. BJP need to taste their medicine from time to time. Politics is for gentlemen only when the opponents behave like gentlemen. If not . . . . . .

If one has heard his remark, then he didn't liken the governor to dogs, but he high lighted his loyalty by this "Simile".
Modi said the same to Rahul to learn nationalism or patriotism from Mudhol Dog, if we see in true perspective dogs are known for their loyalty to its master & not anything else & the above mentioned dog is known only for its ability to hunt.
Only one person qualifies most for that as one cartoonist points out to A Shah for his loyalty as well as hunting for states or seats to secure his master's power quest from Gujarath to all over India.
Reading between lines & creating stories to divert is known from BJP to its Paid News Channels these days.
Timely exposure from Congress of BJP evil designs stopped the juggernaut from crushing its opposition in Karnataka, the real Chanakya is happy as his name is not misused by politicians of dubious distinctions.
When asked in a TV debate Ram Madhav said- how we jump from 104 seats to 112- we have Amith Shah, rest is history now when woman anchor had a mocking laugh at this answer, rest is history now.
Hope BJP learnt a lesson the hard way.

I agree to Mr. Nirupams comments, The Governor was very faithful to his master, he showed his loyalty.
He being the Governor, listened to his master and sided injustice. now when justice was bestowed, Yeddy began to cry, see what he did to honest officers within minutes upon swearing as CM. This shows Yeddy's character.
Corrupt and criminal minded person has no right to take that seat.
Now see Governor situation,it makes him feel like a coward.
If he has a bit respect, he should resign immediately.
