Mangalore, Sep 10: The Congress is prepared to accept whatever pre-conditons the JD(S) might impose, for ending its alliance with the BJP in Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat(ZP), declared MLA and district Congress president Ramanath Rai.
He was replying to queries raised by the presspersons during the World Literacy Day observation organised by Jana Shikshana Trust on Monday September 8 at Prajna Counselling Centre in the city.
The protest programme organised by the JD(S) against the failure of the state government headed by the BJP in front of the office of the deputy commissioner here, loses its meaning, as long as it continues to partner with the BJP in running the zilla panchayat. It should show its protest by coming out of its arrangement in the ZP, he advised.
Rai criticized the BJP's claim of high achievements during its 100-day rule, saying that whatever development works are going on, are conducted out of money released by the previous government. The present government does not have funds to do anything. What can it achieve?, he questioned.
The Congress has many programmes up its sleeve, for weakening the BJP and other communal organizations. It is the duty of secular parties to join hands with the Congress, he felt.
