Udupi, Sep 9: After a steering rod of a bus moving towards the city from Katpady snapped while moving on Udyavar bridge on national highway 17 in the afternoon of Monday September 8, the bus hit the railings of the bridge and fell just short of jumping into Udyavar river. As a result, highway traffic was blocked for over three hours. No One was injured in the incident. Even if the bus had moved a few inches further, a catastrophe was waiting to occur. The police later moved the bus away with the help of locals and cranes.
A private bus coming to Kundapur from Basrur, swerved off course and jumped into a roadside agricultural field on Monday September 8, near East West Country Club at Koni near here. Passengers escaped with minor cuts and bruises. A case has been registered at Kundapur police station.
