Doha, May 7: Indian Cultural Centre under the aegis of Embassy of India conducted Science Tech Festival, a competition for the students of the Indian schools in Qatar at Birla Public School premises.
The event, in which schools had competed for the prestigious ICC Mangalyan Ambassador’s Rolling Trophy, was a daylong event consisting of live science models, written tests and a quiz competition for the students of grade 9, grade 10 and grade 11.
DPS Modern Indian School retained the rolling trophy by scoring the highest cumulative points in all three parts of the competition. MES Indian Schools and Bhavan’s Public School were the Joint runners up for the trophy.
Awards were also given for the winners and runners up of the individual events i.e. Science Models, Written test and Quiz contest. MES Indian School won the trophy for the Science Models while DPS Modern Indian School took the trophies for the other two events. DPS Modern Indian School, MES Indian School and Ideal Indian School were the runner-up for the three events.
Birla Public School, Doha Modern Indian School and Shantiniketan Indian School were the other schools who participated in the event.
Qatar Design Consortium, FJ Trading & Engg Co WLL and Muhibbah Engineering Middle East LLC supported and sponsored the event.
The live science models displayed by the school students were evaluated by independent environment professionals Mike Brice, Dr Peter Longdill, Dr Ijaz Khan and Dr Manoj Chaturvedi. The quiz master for the day was Kamal Sharma.
ICC president Milan Arun gave away the trophies and appreciation plaques along with the chairman of the advisory board Hassan Chougule, the third secretary at the Embassy of India Asim Anwar, sponsors Subrato Mukherjee and Fazhul Kareim. ICC general secretary Jutas Paul compered and Girish Jain, head of Finance-ICC, conducted the felicitation ceremony along with other ICC managing committee, K S Prasad, head of Membership & Consular, advocate Jaffar Khan, head of Sports, Vishal Mehta, head of Cultural Activities, Sriraja Vijayan, joint secretary and A P Manikantan, vice-president. The head of Education for Indian Cultural Centre Nayana Wagh rendered the vote of thanks.
