Udupi, May 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be visiting Sri Krishna Math during his visit to Udupi on Tuesday May 1.
Modi is scheduled to address a public rally at MGM grounds here at 3 pm as part of his election campaign.
Though the party had not mentioned his visit in his schedule, the information department had told the media that PM Modi would visit Sri Krishna Math. He was also expected to meet Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math.
However, on Tuesday morning, BJP executive member Uday Kumar Shetty informed that Modi's visit to Sri Krishna Math has been cancelled. "His visit is purely for election campaign, so he will not be going Sri Krishna Math," he said.
He also took a jibe at chief minister Siddaramaiah who has not visited the Math so far in his capacity as the CM. "PM Modi has a genuine reason not visit the Math. But Siddaramaiah has deliberately skipped it despite visiting Udupi several times."
Ahead of Modi's visit, cleanliness drive was taken up and roads through which the PM would pass were swept clean. Police have deployed tight security.
