Mangalore, Sep 5: Vice-president of Sangeet Bharati Foundation (SBF) Narendra Nayak has informed that the Foundation will be organizing a national level Hindustani music competition here on November 8. He was speaking at a press conference held in the city on Thursday September 4.
The competition will be organized in three categories, vocal, instrumental and percussion. First prize winners in all these categories will get cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each. The second and third prizes of Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively, will also be given.
The topper in the vocal category will also be conferred with the title,'Swara Jyoti' while the first prize winner in instrumental category will get 'Swara Jyoti' title. The best percussionist will be given 'Taal Jyoti' title, he explained.
To be eligible, the artistes should be in the age group of between 18 and 28. They need to send a recorded CD of ten-minute duration for screening. The contestants are free to choose Raaga and Taal as they wish. Last date for receiving the applications will be September 25, Nayak explained.
