Bantwal, Apr 30: In an incident that is reported from Koila under Bantwal rural police station limits, a person from Tulu drama troupe, assured a girl of getting married to her, made a video of her, posted the same on social sites and refused to get married to her.
Purushotham Poojary, a resident of Koila in Bantwal taluk is the accused and police have arrested him.
Two other persons, Jagadish Koila and Praveen, have also been named in the complaint on the accusation that they were accomplices of Purushotham in this shameful act.
Accused Purushotham is the convener of a drama troupe and the victim lady was an artiste in the same troupe. She resided in the house of Purushotham on the night August 25, 2017, along with other artistes, as it was late night when they finished their drama show at Udupi. Purushotham took advantage of the situation and tried to rape her, as per the complaint that the lady has filed with the police.
After this incident, it is alleged by the lady, that the accused took her to Pilikula Park in Mangaluru and made a video of her in compromising positions and posted the same on social sites. When the lady in question came to know about the same, she took up the matter with the accused and he promised her that he will marry her. Then the marriage was fixed in the presence of Jagadish and Praveen, friends of the accused and the invitation cards were printed.
The lady has also told the police that the accused Purushotham has cheated her by denying to get married. In addition, he has threatened to kill her if the same is brought to the notice of the police.
Bantwal rural police have registered a case against all the three accused and have produced Purushotham, the main accused in the case to the court. Search is on for the other two accused who are absconding.
Jagadish Koila is said to be the president of election promotion committee of Bantwal block of one of the political parties and his missing has gone viral on social sites.
