Kuwait, Apr 30: Kuwait Canara Welfare Association (KCWA) held the first Holy Communion party of its members’ children on April 27 in Indian Community School auditorium, Senior Branch, Salmiya.
Five of members’ children participated in the community celebration with KCWA along with the company of over 300 guests. Roshelle Roshan Cordero D/O Roshan & Reena Cordero of Paladka parish, Janessa Melinda D’Sa D/O Jerald & Janet D’Sa of Agrar parish, Nevan Cael Mascarenhas S/O Naveen & Preeti of Bajpe parish, Riyola Mendonca D/O Ronnet & Suneeta of Udyavar parish and Daniella Raina Lobo D/O Rajesh & Doris of Kulshekar parish were the participating children.
After the compere of the evening Deepak Andrade welcomed the gathering, the first holy communicants came in procession with candles and cut the cake together after prayer. Communicants also performed the prayer dance choreographed by Reena Cordero.
KCWA president Hilary Stevan Rego welcomed all the guests. KCWA spiritual director Fr Noel D’Almeida raised the toast and congratulated and blessed all the first holy communicants. All five communicants responded to the toast and thanked KCWA for such a memorable celebration. Fr Blany Pinto, parish priest, Salmiya church presented mementos to the communicants on behalf of KCWA.
Various games for children and adults were organized by Harry Fernandes and Ruth Clara and spot prizes were also given. First holy communicant Roshelle Cordero performed a solo dance and Riyola and team entertained the gathering with group dance. All the guests enjoyed the scintillating music of DJ Hywel as they danced their hearts out. Sound was provided by Anand D’Souza of Waves Events & Rentals. The well-organized get-together concluded with a baila dance session.
Snacks, refreshments and delicious dinner were served to all by Oriental Caterers. The event was ably compered by ace compere Deepak Andrade. Harry Fernandes proposed vote of thanks and Ruth Clara Veigas recited grace before meals prayer. Alban D’Souza and Winston Alphonso captured the event with their skills in videography and photography. Backdrop was arranged by Godwin Veigas. The whole event was successfully coordinated by Ruth Clara Veigas and Harry Fernandes with the support from KCWA managing committee members.
