Udupi, Apr 29: Three labourers lost their lives when the Eicher tempo that was carrying the tarpauline for the pandal to be put for the programme of Prime Minister Modi at Udupi met with an accident near Perdoor on the morning of Sunday, April 29.
The deceased have been identified as the natives of Assam. Their identities are yet to be known.
This tempo was carying the Pandal for the programme of prime minister Modi that is supposed to take place on May 1 at MGM College grounds here.
The tempo was coming from Chitradurga and it hit the electric pole by the side of the road due to the negligence of the driver.
There were 10 to 12 labourers in the tempo. One person died on the spot. Two people succumbed to the injuries while they were being transported to the hospital. Other injured are admitted to the hospital. Hiriyadka police have arrived at the spot and are conducting the inquiry.
