Mangalore, Sep 5: District-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar offered 35 sovereigns of gold coins to the idol of Lord Ganesha installed and being worshipped at the Sangh Niketan here on Thursday September 4. Accompanied by his wife, he prostrated before the idol and offered the coins.
It is learnt that Palemar had prayed to Lord Ganesha before the elections were held, for the success of the BJP in the corporation election, and had vowed to offer one sovereign of gold for each of the party's candidates who become corporators. The BJP wrested the corporation administration from the Congress, Palemar became a minister and the BJP rose to power in the state. Palemar gratefully fulfilled his vow. To the corporator strength of 34 from the party, he added his ministership and offered 35 sovereigns of gold to the Lord, whose blessings seem to have come in handy for him.
