Doha, Apr 22: Indian Cultural Centre under the aegis of Embassy of India conducted the first ever blood donation campaign at ICC premises in coordination with blood donation unit of Hamad Medical Corporation. The campaign was well received by ICC and affiliated organizations members as well as Indian community members who lined up to donate blood and be part of the campaign.
This event was organized on April 20 from 2 pm to 7 pm at ICC premises, Abu Hamour. The campaign was inaugurated by Hassan Chougule, chairman advisory council of ICC in the Presence of Milan Arun, president of ICC and managing committee members.
Hassan Chougule congratulated ICC for making arrangements in taking up this social cause of blood donation as the first ever programme in the last 25 years and applauded the service to humanity by members, donors and MC members. Dr Ranga Prasad Raju, medical director at Al Abeer Medical Center was guest of honour.
Raju made a powerful presentation on 'blood donation awareness' and stressed on the importance of blood donation to save life when in need.
Milan Arun thanked the donors for their overwhelming response to ICC campaign with registration of over 200 enthusiastic members of the community and stressed that this is the best charity one could ever perform.
HMC blood unit made elaborate arrangements from portable beds, qualified staff to collect blood, food distribution after blood donation to implementing strict guidelines to receive blood donated by the donors.
HMC official awarded certificate of appreciation to ICC for conducting the blood donation drive.
K S Prasad, head of membership, ICC coordinated the whole event supported by ICC management committee and volunteers from different organizations, led by Subramanyan Hebbagulu to make this event a grand success.
