Dubai, Apr 16: The evening on April 13 at Indian Consulate Auditorium was all about perfection, dedication, performance, discipline, grace, hard work and soulful classical dance of Sankeerna School of Classical Dance’s dancing angles and disciples of Guru Vidhushi Sapanakiran.
The programme started with lighting of lamp by distinguished guests Guru Sapna and Kiran Kumar. The show began with ‘Pushpanjali’, offering a floral tribute to God. Dancers devotionally offered their obeisance to the lord of dance, Nataraja, the guru and to the audience. Then the talented dancers gave sequence of powerful performances through ‘Kali kauthuvam’ where Parvati took the form of Kaali to demolish Rakthabeeja. Girls dedicated yet another breath taking performance to Navadurge through ‘Aiyagiri Nandini’. ‘Vishamkara Kannan’ showcased little adorable ‘Krishna Kannayas’ and sweet little ‘Radhes’, ‘Flute Dance’, and ‘Kuravanji’ added versatility to the show and displayed the dancers’ ability to perform it flawlessly.
The grand finale performance ‘Dharmakshetra’, and the ‘Geethopadesha’ at the war field brought the audience to the edge of their seats with the soulful music, breath taking dance and ‘Abhinaya’ of Krishna and Arjuna.
During the stage programme, chief guest of the evening Chandra Subramani, Bharathanatyam artist and founder member Bhava expressed her happiness for quality of the programme and dedication of the guru. She appreciated budding artistes and gave her word of encouragement and guidance.
Another guest of the evening N Mohan recalled his long association with Sankeerna and expressed happiness for their growth and wished them success. Satisfied and proud guru Sapna Kiran delivered the vote of thanks. Prakash Rao Payyar, a well known Kannada writer and theater director of Dubai Kannada Theater, was felicitated. Sapna Kiran had debuted in the lead role of Vasavadatte in his recent drama ‘Swapnavasavadatte’. She extended her gratitude to her parents who put her in classical dance path and gurus who made her the dancer of par excellence and also family and friends.
Sruti Karthik charismatically compered the programme with detailed explanation of each dance form with the evidence and stories from Puranas and Vedas.
