Doha, Apr 16: In the finals of the first division of Gulf Lights Cricket Tournament 2018, M Pallonji defeated Alliance by 51 runs to lift the champions trophy.
Alliance won the toss getting M Pallonji to bat. Opening batsmen of M Pallonji began very confidently and were 44 runs for the loss of three wickets in the first six overs. Rauf of M Pallonji played some lusty shots and scored 40 runs off 21 balls with five sixes. Ayub scored 34 runs off 19 deliveries with two sixes and two boundaries, Alban also scored 22 runs with three sixes and Saudesh's 21 runs contributed to the total. M Pallonji finally scored 203 runs in the allotted 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets.
Waheed of Alliance took four wickets, Thannu two wickets, Naseer, Nizam and Rameez took a wicket each.
In reply Alliance commenced their innings with vigor and self poise and totalled 58 runs for the loss of two wickets in the first six overs. Star batsman Thannu contributed 30 runs off only nine deliveries with four sixes and a boundary while Opening batsman Ifzal assisted with 25 runs with two sixes. Sandeep added 21 runs with two sixes in the total. However Alliance could not maintain the momentum and regularly lost wickets. Finally Alliance were all out for 152 runs in 18.1 Overs.
Raziq and Firdus of M Pallonji took two wickets each while Naveed, Rauf, Praveen and Vikram took a wicket each.
M Pallonji won the match by 51 runs
Alban of M Pallonji was declared Man of the Finals

At the prize distribution Ceremony the chief guest Sanaullah, managing director of Gulf Lights distributed the winners, runners up trophies and over 300 prizes which was attended by supporters and well wishers.
The prize distribution was interrupted twice by thundershowers, but the event was saved from a washout by the huge tent. Complimentary refreshments and a lucky draw for all spectators concluded the day.
