Mangalore, Aug 28: Bantwal unit of the Federation of Karnataka Christian Associations (FKCA) has urged the district administration to take stringent action against the miscreants who desecrated the grotto located at Pachanady on August 22.
A delegation of the Bantwal unit of FKCA recently met the district deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao and told him that the faithful have been worshipping on the hill here since the last six decades. Locals never raised objections to the functioning of the prayer centre there. Fundamentalist forces have raised objections to the existence of the prayer centre now, with the intention of disturbing peace and harmony among different religions, the delegation alleged.
Strict action should be taken against the miscreants and the devotees should be allowed to conduct prayers on the hill without any fear. Otherwise, a strong protest will be staged against the district administration, the delegation warned.
FKCA Bantwal unit president Noel Lobo, secretary Nelson Frank, committee members Lancy Carlo, Naveen Pinto, Richard Menezes, Steven D’Souza, Denis D’Silva and Valerian Lobo were present in the delegation.
