Udupi, Aug 25: Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) has issued notices to 334 families from Yermal Tenka village, which are lined up on the route of the proposed pipeline of the Yellur-based Nagarjuna thermal power plant, till the seashore. The pipelines will need 25 to 35 metres wide path, as two pipes, one for drawing sea water and the other, for discharging the used water, need to be laid.
Ex president of Yermal Tenka village Sathish Salian said that the villagers have already contacted the Acquisition officer of KIADB and the official informed them that the aggrieved have the opportunity to file objections if any, for the proposed acquisition.
Locals gathered on Sunday August 24, at Yermal Tenka school and resolved to fight against the new threat to their lands tooth and nail. All the 334 affected families have decided to file objections with the KIADB and to gather at the same spot on August 30 to take a final decision in the matter.
