Abu Dhabi, Mar 29: 29-year-old Hameed Yousuf, whose roots go down to Kulshekar here in Mangaluru, has been selected as part of Youth Media Council (YMC), comprising of 12 young members of the age group (18-30).
Hameed Yousuf, who is also the director of social media and digital at the BPG Group, is the only Indian on the council. Hameed Yousuf holds Bachelor of Business Administration affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University. In addition to his day job as a digital media director at BPG Group, Yousuf is working as lecturer at universities, content writer for prominent digital channels and vlogs on tech, engines and young artists in the region.
Speaking to media he said that he was keen on seeing social media posts screened for positive messages as that influences hundreds of youngsters. "Social media should be used to spread awareness. My job now is to encourage young people to verify the social media content before sharing it with others,” he said.
The council was chosen from 153 candidates with a distinguished media background and achievements. The team will get in touch with youth and get their opinions to help shape the UAE future media policy.
Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, minister of State and chairman of the NMC has expressed confidence in the young team.
