Mangalore, Aug 23: Immigration officials at the Bajpe airport here have arrested one person on charges of trying to fly to Dubai by using a fake passport on Friday August 22. Another person too has been arrested on similar charges.
Jaffer Shariff (23), son of G M Sufi from Nettanige village of Puttur taluk has been arrested, on charges of illegally using a passport belonging to Moovari Edukam Anil Kumar, son of Kottan Kunhi from Kanhangad Padenareveedu, Kerala by pasting his own photograph on the photograph of the original holder. The officials took him into custody while trying to board the Air India Express flight to Dubai on the morning of Friday. He has been handed over to Bajpe police station.
Another person who had gone to Dubai from this airport on Tuesday August 19 has been sent back by the Dubai immigration officials, as his records were found to be not in order. He has been identified as Ummer P M (35), son of Mohammed Kunhi from Pallimadu Kasargod. His citizenship records were found to be defective by the Dubai officials.
The immigration officials after a detailed scrutiny found that the passport Ummer used belonged to Pilliyalil Farooq and here too, he had pasted his own photograph to the passport belonging to Farooq. This person also has been handed over to the Bajpe police.
