Karachi, Aug 21: At least 20 people were killed and about 40 injured when two suicide bombers blew themselves up in a cantonment near Islamabad on Thursday.
A suicide bomber blew himself up near the main gate of Wah Cantonment near Taxila, about 50 km from Islamabad, while the second attacker detonated his explosives near the gate of an ordnance factory within the cantonment, TV channels reported.
Wah Cantonment is a high-security army establishment and is home to about 20 ordnance factories.
The toll could rise as many of the injured are in a serious condition, officials were quoted by TV channels as saying.
A large number of ambulances rushed to the site of the blasts to ferry the injured to nearby hospitals.
The army cordoned off the area and prevented journalists from approaching the site of the blasts.
The attack occurred when a large number of workers of ordnance factories were leaving the cantonment after completing their shift.
