Udupi, Aug 14: The executive committee of Mangalore University (MU) All College Students' Union has urged the government to withdraw the system of credit-based semester qualifying examinations followed by MU which hampers the future of students. This was communicated by Shantaprasad Hegde, founder president, at a press conference on Thursday August 14.
The executive committee would stage aggravated protests if their demands are not met at the earliest as several students have been adversely affected by the current system, he added.
Meanwhile, Hegde also said that MU will be held responsible for any suicides committed by students who are already in a traumatic mental state due to the university's actions. Udupi district students' leader Harish Padukere, and district president, Naresh Kamath, were present at the press conference. A memorandum was submitted to MU vice-chancellor Prof Kaverappa, in this regard.
