Udupi: Padmapriya Unnatural Death Case - Prosecution Given Time to File Objections on Atul's Bail Plea

Udupi, Aug 14: The government has permitted a time of ten days for the prosecution to file objections for the bail application filed by Atul Rao, main accused in the case of unnatural death of Padmapriya, wife of Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat. It has also said, that this will be the last extension it is permitting.

The prosecution lawyer, who presented his arguments before a High Court bench headed by Justice ohanshantan gouder on Wednesdaya Auust 13, said that all the records pertaining to the case have since been taken over by the Corps of Detectives(COD) investigating team. Therefore, he prayed for 15 days time for filing objections to the bail applications.

Advocate Jaykumar S Patil who is representing Atul in the case, raised strong objections to the submission by the prosecution, arguing that Atul Rao is being made a scape goat for the sake of protecting the self-esteem of some personalities. There is no direct link between the incidents occured in the case and the charges levelled against Atul, he peaded and argued in favour of disposing off the bail application immediately.

The High Court Bench thereafter, accorded a final 10-day extension for the prosecution to file objections.

In the meantime, the COD investigating team visited the house of Atul Rao located in Ajjarkad, Udupi and interrogated his wife and mother on Wednesday, August 13.
