Mumbai, Aug 8: Mulund Friends, an organization that has been functioning in the metropolitan since long and involved with various social, sports, religious and educational activities for long, apart from recognizing and felicitating achievers, had organized 'Sauhardotsava - 2008', in association with Manava Sauharda Vedike Karnataka on Wednesday August 7 at Mulund Kaviratna Kalidasa auditorium. The organization, besides ensuring that the programme remained unique and value-based, also distributed rewards to bright students and felicitated achievers on the occasion.
The programme, held under the presidentship of Manava Sauharda Vedika Karnataka president N A Harry, was inaugurated jointly by Sri Vishweshateerta Swamiji of Pejavar Math, Adoor mosque priest Maulana Assayyed Mohammed Ashraf Sakhafi Madani and Mulund (west) St Pius Church priest Fr Hubert Goveas, by releasing three pigeons to the sky.
"We are all the children of the same Mother Earth. Our lives are becoming increasingly arduous because of the frequent frictions that arise in the name of differences in beliefs and religions. There is a need for the followers of the Maths and religions to come together and start a revolution of harmony where the humans are free from the frictions based on religious differences that are detrimental to the human life. Sauhardotsava is a meaningful exercise to spread the message of unity and to bring people of all beliefs to come together and support the need for leading a life of mutual support and co-existence," Swamiji said.
On this occasion, Karnataka ex-minister Moodbidri Amarnath Shetty who served selflessly in the political field, retired police officer G A Bawa for his invaluable work in civil service, Mangalore Karavali Group of Colleges chairman S Ganesh Rao for his contribution to the field of education, Ismail Moodushedde for his contribution to journalism and movie star Vaibhavi, were felicitated by the Swamiji by handing over mementoes, fruits and flowers apart from draping them with shawls.
Rajapur Saraswat Sangh Mumbai president Kacheri Sadanand Nayak, Devadiga Sangh Mumbai president Dharmapal U Devadiga, 'Karnataka Malla' daily editor Chandrashekhar Palethady, New Panvel corporator Santosh G Shetty, Thane enterpreneur and social worker Surendra V Shetty, Mumbai Hotel Association ex-president Gopal Y Shetty etc., were present at the dais. They handed over talent rewards to the school students and felicitated achievers in various fields.
Rahim Ucchil of Manava Sauharda Vedike compered the programme. Mulund Friends president Suresh Yeyyadi welcomed. General secretary Dayanand Devadiga proposed vote of thanks. Later, entertainment programme in the form of Tulu play, 'Madime' directed by Vijay Kumar Kodialbail was staged by Kalasangama team.
