Doha: Gulf Lights emerge victors of inaugural match at Losail Cricket Complex

Doha, Feb 19: After winning the toss, Gulf Lights captain Rahid put Serandib B to bat. In the misty weather, Serandib B began cautiously and scored 27 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the first 6 overs. Gulf Lights bowlers never allowed Serandib B batsmen to score freely and took away wickets at regular intervals. Serandib B were finally all out for 84 runs in the 17th Over. Tushitha, Chanaka and Priyantha were the only batsmen who registered double digit scores with Tushitha as top scorer of 15 runs including one six.

For Gulf Lights, Sarvar took 6 wickets giving 12 runs in his allotted 3 overs, Hussain, Tariq, Asif, Umar and Javed took 1 wicket each.



In reply, Gulf Lights lost their opener Asif caught by Milan and bowled by Priyantha for a duck on the third ball of the first over without opening the team account. Thereafter the incoming batsman played cautiously and upped the scoring rate. Javed, of Gulf Lights scored 29 runs in 12 balls with four sixes. Tariq scored 13 runs, Qadir and Hussain scored 12 runs each. Gulf Lights finally won the match in 10.4 overs losing 5 wickets.

Priyantha, Sujeewa, Upul, Raju and Harendra took 1 wicket each.

For his all-round performance, Javed of Gulf Lights was adjusted Man of the Match.

Earlier, in the Morning, Sanaullah – managing director of Gulf Lights inaugurated the tournament in the presence of Qatar veterans cricket officials, players and match officials.

CCRC defeated Al Jazeera Media Network by 120 runs.
CCRC scored a massive total of 234 for 10 wickets in 20 overs. Inthekab bagged 44 runs in 23 balls with 4 sixes and 1 four, Ehfaz 41 runs in 21 balls with 3 sixes and 1 four, Muzzamil 36 runs in 11 balls with 4 sixes and 2 fours, Nihal 2 wickets for 27 runs and Mustaqeen 2 wickets for 33 runs beat Al Jazeera Media Network who scored 114 runs for 11 wickets in 16.3 overs with Shadab scoring 19 runs with 3 fours, Sardar 3 wickets for 27 runs, Mazhar 2 wickets for 8 runs, Ehfaz 2 wickets for 15 runs.

Mazhar of CCRC was declared Man of the match.

Al Zaman Exchange defeated Ceylon Warriors by 25 runs.
