Congress wishes Parrikar speedy recovery

Panaji, Feb 16 (IANS): The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Friday unanimously passed a resolution wishing Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar good health and speedy recovery.

Parrikar is in a Mumbai hospital and is being treated for "mild pancreatitis".

Speaking to reporters CLP leader Chandrakant Kavlekar said that ahead of the upcoming budget session the party passed the resolution at a meeting in the assembly on Friday wishing Parrikar well.

"We wished for his health and prayed to God for his quick recovery. This was the first resolution we passed," Kavlekar said, adding that the resolution was moved by former Congress Chief Minister Pratapsing Rane.

The CLP leader also said that the Opposition planned to corner the BJP-led coalition government on issues related to coal pollution, mining closure, etc, when the session begins on February 19.

Parrikar is admitted in Lilavati Hospital. According to a statement issued by his office, the Chief Minister was doing well and was "under observation" and was likely to be discharged in a day or two.

Parrikar was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital on Thursday, a day after he was admitted to the state-run Goa Medical College near Panaji, after he complained of stomach pain on Wednesday night.
