Bengaluru, Dec 31: National BJP president, Amit Shah, is expected to land in the city on Sunday December 31. His visit is expected to buoy the spirits of the party leaders and cadres and prepared the ground for a pro-BJP wave in Karnataka, where the state unit of BJP is struggling to find a proper rhythm because of factionalism and ego issues.
State BJP is presently also grappling with issues like Mahadayi river water sharing controversy and discomfiture it is facing on the issue of demand for separate Lingayat religion. Shah will begin to attend a series of meetings with state BJP leaders where he will be issuing them specific directions. In all likelihood, he will also frame strategies to counter other political parties on the above issues and to defeat the aim of other parties to embarrass the BJP.
After his arrival at the airport here at 10.30 am, Shah will proceed to a private hotel nearby. He will inaugurate a meeting of MPs, MLAs and MLC who were made in-charge of election matters relating to assembly constituencies at 11.30 am. During this meeting, which is expected to go on till 1.30 pm, Shah will collect details about the achievements of these leaders in their respective constituencies, how they have fared as far as affective discharge of responsibilities entrusted to them is concerned, and how many have done well. At 2.30 pm, he will hold meeting with state office bearers of the party and district presidents where current state of affairs of the party, challenges being faced in affective implementation of the plans, organizational matters etc will be discussed. Thereafter, he will meet BJP core committee members to discuss the overall situation in the party.
State BJP in-charge, Muralidhar Rao, assistant in-charge, Purandeshwari, election in-charge and union minister, Prakash Javadekar, and assistant election in-charge and union minister, Piyush Goyal, will be some of the leaders who will attend this meeting.
Shah is likely to take stock of the situation arising out of poor handling of Mahadayi river water sharing issue by the BJP leaders here. This could have been projected as one of the most important feats of the BJP but the other parties particularly Congress, have wrested the initiative and floored the BJP leaders, who have failed to counter the offensive properly.
Karnataka election-in-charge, Prakash Javadekar, held meeting with BJP leaders on Saturday evening in which he collected information about preparedness for election, Parivarthana Yatra, booth level organization of the party, achievements so far with references to tasks allotted earlier by Shah and some other matters, it is said.
In general, there is an air of apprehension among BJP leaders, as Shah would be reviewing the achievements and performances of current MLAs, party leaders and people seeking party tickets, vis-a-vis tasks he had assigned to them during the visit in August this year. So, leaders who have failed to properly execute the tasks are a little jittery. Moreover, in spite of clear instructions from the national president, BJP has failed to address the issue of differences between top BJP leaders properly, which is another issue that might be playing behind the minds of the state leaders as well as the national president of BJP.
