Karwar, Dec 29: "I happen to be a Hindu by birth, and belong to Brahmin caste. I never sought to be born in a particular religion or caste,” said state minister, R V Deshpande.
He was addressing people here on Thursday, December 28.
“There is Lord Ram in the name of chief minister, Siddaramaiah.’Raghunath', another name of Lord Rama, also happens to be part of my name. That automatically means I am Lord Ram. People associated with BJP, before planning to build temple for Lord Rama, should obtain my blessings," he added.
Deshpande wanted to know whether activists associated with BJP visit as many temples as he regularly visits.
Deshpande said that he also frequents mosques and churches in addition to temples. He went on to say that these issues should remain personal choices and that religions were established to achieve fusion between people, not friction.
