Mangaluru: Serial shootouts in DK district – CCB police arrest two accused

Mangaluru, Dec 28: City Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested two accused in connection with three shootouts carried out on the orders of underworld fugitive, Kali Yogish.

The arrested are Manoj Kunder (35) from Mulky and Chandrashekar (32) from Pakshikere.

The CCB team led by inspector Shantharam also seized two pistols, seven live cartridges and two mobile phones from the accused.

According to a press note by police and briefing by police commissioner T R Suresh, the accused are involved in shootouts at Shri Rajashri Jewellers, Kinnigoli under Mulky police station limits on December 7 and at M Sanjeev Shetty Silk and Sarees, Car Street under Mangaluru North police station limits on December 8. The accused are also said to be involved in a shootout where they fired at entrepreneur Nagaraj’s house’s windows and car at Mulky on December 23.

Among the accused, Manoj Kunder is said to be directly involved with underworld fugitive Kali Yogish and has been acting as per his orders. The accused and the seized weapons have been handed over to Mulki police station for further action. There are reports that these accused might have been involved in many other crimes.

ACP Valentine D'Souza, CCB police’s Shantharam, sub-inspector Shyam Sundar, ASI Harish, officials Ramu Poojary, Ganesh, Chandrashekhar, Sheenappa, Chandra, Subramanya, Chandrahasa, Yogish, Rajendra Prasad, Abdul Jabbar, Mani, Prashanth Shetty, Ashith D’Souza, Thejkumar, and Rithesh were part of the team which successfully carried out the operation.
