Mangaluru, Dec 28: Commissioner of the city corporation here, Mohammed Nazeer, informed that out of 65 projects under 'Mangaluru smart city' programme, tenders have been floated for four important works. He said that these works will get going within a short time.
Presenting details of progress under smart city programme at the city corporation premises on Wednesday December 27, Nazeer informed that the road between the Clock Tower and A B Shetty Circle will be turned into smart road at an expenditure of Rs 7.56 crore. "A new clock tower will be built at the spot where the old one stood, by spending Rs 90 lac. Construction of a new bus stand has been included newly to the smart city scheme and proposal for the same has been submitted," he revealed.
Nazeer explained that the divider of the Clock Tower - A B Shetty Circle road will be redesigned and separate facilities like footpath, underground drainage and provision for laying cables etc would be provided by the side of Nehru Maidan. One side of the road would be developed like park with seating arrangement. Wifi, CCTV camera, display giving current air quality, smart pole etc would be fitted. The nine bus shelters on the other side will be shifted and new smart bus shelters and toilets will come up," he stated.
The commissioner revealed that smart bus shelters will be built at 22 spots in the city at an expenditure of Rs 4.8 crore. There will be three types of smart bus shelters which will be equipped by e-toilets. Reconstruction of underground drainage system will be undertaken in Nellikai Road at an expenditure of Rs 4.95 crore. In the next phase, roads in these segments will be concreted at an estimated cost of Rs 32.5 crore," he stated.
Nazeer also added that detailed project reports are ready for command control centre costing Rs 75.28 crore and multi-level parking project with private participation costing Rs 79 crore.
