Chikkagamaluru, Dec 26: District superintendent of police, Annamalai, confirming his reputation as a people-friendly officer, turned saviour for some tourists who were stranded in forest area after one of the wheels of their car suffered a puncture.
The car carrying Bengaluru-based tourists was on way to Sringeri when its tyre went flat near Mattavara village. Annamalai, who was coming to the town from Koppa at the time, saw that the tourists were in trouble. He stopped his car, and tried to remove the wheel with tools on his own. As he found it impossible to remove the wheel, he called for a crane to take the car for repair. He also brought the tourists to the town in his car.
The car driver later said that the occupants of the car had become jittery as the car was stranded in the middle of forest region. He thanked Annamalai for timely help, dropping off the tourists in the town, and helping out in getting the car repaired.
