Bengaluru, Dec 26: It is learnt that controversial and ulterior statements being made by party leaders in their addresses have given rise to a sense of discontent and disturbance among certain camps within BJP. It is said that these leaders have sent clear signals to national level leaders of the party that such statements have been hurting the image of the party and negative politics might prove counterproductive. They also have conveyed to leadership that unless the matter is resolved and clear instructions are given, this might affect the party chances in the hustings.
"In their enthusiasm to deride political opponents, certain leaders have been losing control over their emotions and language. This is opposed to the culture of BJP. The image people have about BJP and its leaders is harmed by these people. Statements issued by certain leaders are against the general sentiments of the people many a time," these leaders have informed the top leadership. It appears that these complaints related to leaders like Ananth Kumar Hegde, Pratap Simha, and Shobha Karandlaje.

Sources say that union human resources minister, Prakash Javadekar, who happens to be in-charge of election in Karnataka, also has noticed the foul language being used by party leaders, and he too expressed his resentment at this development. This issue is likely to come up at the core committee meeting being held here today, and the leaders found to be wanting may be directed to exercise restraint over what they speak.
Javadekar, who arrived in the city on Sunday evening, met several party leaders and well-wishers. He at the time, has been gathering current happenings in the state. Sources said that a few whom he met also expressed themselves against certain words used by BJP leaders. It is also gathered in addition to the above three leaders, names of some other MPs who need to stopped from issuing controversial statements, were also mentioned. Many appreciated the fact that there is a need to enthusiastically hit back at opposition parties and to repeatedly assert policies and programmes of the part but the concerned should not lose their concentration and cross the limits of decency in doing so.
Javadekar is expected to raise this issue at the core committee meeting and make an effort to drive home the views of party leaders and convince others to be dignified in their approach and more responsible in their speech.
