Mangaluru, Dec 22: Minister for food and civil supplies U T Khader on Friday, December 22, slammed groups opposing actor Prakash Rai’s visit to inaugurate 'Karavali Utsava' in the city.
Addressing media he said, “No one has the right to oppose Prakash Rai’s visit to the city. This is his native. I challenge these forces to stop the actor’s visit. These anti-social forces could not do anything when Kerala chief minister was here. Hence, they can do nothing about Prakash Rai’s visit too.”
"Some groups always try to spoil the peace of the society. They want people to follow their orders. They even order others what to eat and wear. But our society which is matured and wise, will not fall into their trap,” he added.
Answering a query on moral policing in the district he said, "Police have formed a task force to take on moral policing. The home ministry has issued strict orders to the police to prevent incidents of moral policing.”
On issues of farmers he said, "Farmers are happy under Congress government’s various policies which are beneficial for agriculture. Our various horticulture related departments are doing a very good job. Hence, our government has not faced any agitation or protest from farmers. Now, our government has planned to purchase millets from farmers directly. We will offer them a very good support price which will prevent middlemen's interference in the market. We will start purchasing Millets from farmers from the end of December.”
“Besides this, we will also purchase poaceae (Mekke Jola) and tur dal. This will stabilise the price and farmers can earn reasonable profit from their produce,” he concluded.
