Moodbidri, Dec 22: Priyanka (25) from Dharegudde here, who suddenly went missing two days before her marriage when other family members were deep asleep, is learnt to have been found at Mumbai along with her companion. Police personnel from Mangaluru commissionerate, who went to Mumbai in search of the lady reportedly succeeded in locating her whereabouts in the metro.
Priyanka, daughter of the late Aithappa Bhandary from Dharegudde here was to marry a youth employed in a foreign country on December 11. After Mehndi programme held on December 8, Priyanka had gone missing. When family members slept, presumably in the early hours on December 9, she had either run away or was abducted. Her disappearance came to the notice of her close ones the next morning.
It came to be known thereafter that when Priyanka's family was living at Innoli before shifting base to Dharegudde, she had come closer to a person named Hyder from that village. The family had advised Priyanka to end this friendship and it was believed that she had given up that relationship and moved ahead in life. Just before her marriage, the would-be bride went missing, causing lost of problems for her family. The family said that she had taken away her passport, Aadhaar card, as well as ten sovereigns of gold ornaments before going missing.
The police, who took this case as a challenge, formed an investigating team comprising of personnel drawn from Panambur and Moodbidri police stations. The team had been dispatched to Mumbai for probe. There is information that the team has succeeded in its task of finding out Priyanka along with a youth. Further details are awaited.
