Bengaluru, Dec 21: The Karnataka High court has directed the Bengaluru police to file an affidavit on denying permission to an event in which Bollywood actress Sunny Leone was scheduled to perform.
Justice B Veerappa asked the police to file an affidavit citing the number of clubs in the city that have been granted permission to host New Year events. He questioned why the police were discriminating against an individual while granting permissions to other New Year events in the city. The matter was adjourned.
The MD of Times Creation Harish had moved the high court after the Karnataka government and Bengaluru police denied permission to hosting New Year's Eve event ‘Sunny Nights’.
Harish in his petition requested the court to order the police to allow the event and provide adequate security to avoid untoward incidents.
Meanwhile, Sunny Leone’s tweet "Since the police of Bangalore have publicly said that they will not be able to ensure mine & all who attend safety for my New Years event, my team & I feel, safety of the people should always come first therefore I cannot attend. God bless & I wish everyone a safe & happy New Year!" had a massive outpouring of support and the state Congress government was criticized for surrendering to the threats of fringe elements.
