Mangaluru, Dec 21: The road connecting Mangaluru Junction Railway Station, also known as Kankanady Railway Station, will be widened at a cost of Rs 4.05 crore. This information was given by MLA J R Lobo on Wednesday, December 20.
Lobo was speaking after surveying the said road.
He said that Rs 2.05 crore from the premium FAR (floor area ratio) of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) and Rs 2 crore from the state public works department (PWD) have been sanctioned for this work.
"Though the Mangaluru Junction Railway Station was built many years ago, people had to use the congested road to reach there. As there was no bus facility, people had to come to the station by auto rickshaw or taxi. The development of this road will make it convenient for the people to commute to the station," he informed.
"MCC and PWD have to work together in order to complete the work of this road as soon as possible. This should be done in a systematic manner, without causing inconvenience to the public," Lobo told the concerned officials.
Corporator Praveen Chandra Alva, MCC deputy commissioner (development) K S Lingegowda, joint director Jayaraj, town planning officer Balakrishna, engineer Ganapati, local leaders Krithin Kumar, Dhanaraj and Anil were present.
