Bengaluru: Clarity at last- Shiradi Ghat work to start from Jan 15

Bengaluru, Dec 21: All the confusions with regards to the beginning of work of Shiradi ghat have been resolved and the work is going to begin from January 15.

The work was supposed to start on November 1. Later this got postponed to January 1. Now the central government has given its nod for the tender process and the work will begin on January 15 as per the information given by Dr H C Mahadevappa, minister of public works department.

Speaking to the journalists the minister said, "Work is going to be completed in three months. Traffic during this period will be stopped on this route."

"Discussions are in progress with regards to the construction of tunnels on Shiradi ghat. Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) has come forward to offer the financial assistance of Rs 15,000 crore for this purpose. However, talks are being held with the environment department to make these tunnels environment-friendly," he added.

    Good news.

    Pls. don't even allow our contractors, engineers and even the MPs and MLA's to come near this project till its complete. Hire all Engineers and contractors from China or Japan.

    Where its mentioned January 15 for the year 2018..........? No wonder once in a year January 15 will come for sure. Just wait buddys. I am reading Shirady ghat (saliva pasting) repair/permanent solution topics on media for past 3+ decades. Every 5 years prior to elections there is some media hype on shirady ghat issue. Only two issues are common in this part prior to elections @ communal tension n sharady tension. No solutions for both till now. World is talking about landing on moon but we still dont have an all season road network to capital city from gateway of Karnataka. What a shame on political leaders on this region!!!!!

    (JICA) has come forward to offer the financial assistance of Rs 15,000 crore for this purpose. Please award the job to their recommended Japanese company! Our regular contractors will make a mess of the project and job and delivery of sub standard (Kalape Kamagari). If the money is paid directly by lender to their own Japanese company will certainly give a road that will last more than 100 years. Our contractors will make sure repair needed before inauguration! Government will end up spending more than that of foreign company in 5 years including repairs! This way corruption can be fully eliminated. In future government can set standard based on these Japanese company.
