Bengaluru, Dec 21: All the confusions with regards to the beginning of work of Shiradi ghat have been resolved and the work is going to begin from January 15.
The work was supposed to start on November 1. Later this got postponed to January 1. Now the central government has given its nod for the tender process and the work will begin on January 15 as per the information given by Dr H C Mahadevappa, minister of public works department.
Speaking to the journalists the minister said, "Work is going to be completed in three months. Traffic during this period will be stopped on this route."
"Discussions are in progress with regards to the construction of tunnels on Shiradi ghat. Japan International Co-operation Agency (JICA) has come forward to offer the financial assistance of Rs 15,000 crore for this purpose. However, talks are being held with the environment department to make these tunnels environment-friendly," he added.
