Mangaluru, Dec 20: Traditional breakfast items of Tulunadu like Moode, Neerudose and Sajjige-Bajil succeeded in casting a spell on Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. It is gathered that he asked for second serving of these items and appreciated the taste and texture of these eatables which are close to the hearts of people living in Karnataka coast.
Modi, who stayed overnight at Circuit House at Kadri Hill, had breakfast on Tuesday morning. The private hotel that was entrusted with the responsibility of looking after food needs of Modi had kept ready Moode, Neerudose, Idli, Kesari Bhath, Chapati, Vade, Biscuit Rotti, Sanjeera, Dalithove, Chutney, Sambar, fresh fruit juice and tea for him.

Modi, who was ready at 7 am for the breakfast, asked to be served with local food varieties. He was provided with Moode, Neerudose, Dalithove, Sajjige-Bajil, Sanjeera, Biscuit Rotti and Ragi Manni (finger millet halwa). After eating, he also told those who accompanied him, that his weight might go up by two kilos. After breakfast, he posed for photograph with the cooks and other staff who served breakfast to him.
Modi appreciated Moode, Neerudose and Sajjige-Bajil and sought another serving. He also tasted Biscuit Rotti and Sanjeera besides having watermelon juice. Before breakfast he practiced Yoga and had ginger tea and biscuits, it is learnt.
Ocean Pearl hotel in the city had prepared the breakfast for Modi. The cooks stayed at Circuit House on Monday night and made advance preparations. The eatables were prepared at the Circuit House in the morning. Senior officials of food safety from the state and district level officials also were in the Circuit House during the night. Modi had stayed in suite No. 1 of the new Circuit House with the next suite having been occupied by his personal assistants, Deepak Joshi and Badri Meena, while the room next to it had been given to Modi's personal secretary, Sanjeev Singh.
In his parting tweet, the Prime Minister expressed his gratefulness to the people of the city for welcoming and looking after him well.
