Kuwait, Dec 19: The second annual general body meeting of Mogaveers Association Kuwait (MAK) was held on December 15 at Classic Paragon Hotel, Mirgab.
As is customary and traditional, the proceedings of the MAK AGM commenced with a prayer song recited by Kishore Kotian followed by lighting of lamp by the president Ramesh Kidiyoor and management committee members Vikyath Boloor, Rekha Suvarna, Prashanth Boloor, Lakshmeesha Amin, Purandara Manchi, Jaya Kotian and guest Dr Prabhakar Boloor.
Ritesh Kumar welcomed all the MAK members to the event and thereby invited all the committee members to the dais.
President Ramesh Kidiyoor welcomed all the members, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the committee members and thanked every member for their support. He also urged all the members to come forward and showcase their talents.
General secretary Rekha Suvarna read the annual report of the activities of the association for the year 2017. While treasurer Prashanth Boloor read out the financial report for the year, both of which were approved by the members.
Some of the major events of 2017are as follow:
MAK welcomed and celebrated the New Year 2017 on Jan 1, 2017, an event filled with fun and entertainment.
MAK organized its first indoor, national level volleyball and throwball tournament under the title of ‘MAK Champion Trophy 2017’ on February 25, 2017.
MAK also participated in Diwali Mela conducted by IIK on October 13, 2017, ‘Pilinalike’ (Tiger Dance) was presented by the members which was directed and choreographed by the cultural secretary Lakshmeesh Amin and MAK member Nishant Salian.
The crowd applauded the performance with a standing ovation which was a proud moment for all the MAK members.
The host of the day Ritesh Kumar and Lakshmeesh Amin entertained the crowd with their witty sense of humour, while they depicted the Mogaveera culture with a variety of songs and dance. An informative and interaction session on how the rituals of a ‘Madhime’ (Marriages) are performed in the Mogaveera community was conducted by them. They also conducted games for all the MAK members. Kids of MAK too enjoyed dancing and playing games. Melodious songs were sung by renowned artist Suresh Salian, Purandara Manchi and Dinesh Suvarna.
Returning officer Purandara Manchi announced the new managing committee for the year 2018.
The group unanimously elected Ramesh Kidiyoor as the president for the second term. He is an ex-president of Tulukoota Kuwait and currently the advisor. He is well known for his outstanding work for the society in India and Kuwait.

The managing committee members introduced themselves, thanked and assured all the members for rendering their best service during their tenure.
President Ramesh Kidiyoor in his speech thanked all the members for electing him as president. He urged all the members to stay united and work for the upliftment of the community. Knowing from the background where the community is,he motivated all the members to be proud of their routes and urged all of them to promote the community. The members of MAK Kuwait were asked to extend their wholehearted support to the new Committee in their pursuit of welfare of Mogaveeras. He also assured the members that management committee would support and provide help to any member who is in need of help.
Executive committee of 16 members were announced by the president who are as follows:
Avinash R Bangera, Arun Mendon, Divakar Kotian, Dinesh Suvarna, Jaya Kotian, Kiran Kumar, Kusum Girish Karkera, Lakshmeesh Amin, Nishant Salian, Paresh Karkera, Prashanth Kundar, Punith Raj Salian, Purandara Manchi, Prashanth Kundar, Rithesh Kumar and Santhosh Kundar.
Below welfare projects would continue as informed by the president:
Death grant of Rs 1, 00,000 in case of death of any active member, financial help will be provided to next of kin of the deceased.
Financial help (Health Grant) of Rs 25,000 will be given to the members in case of serious health issues or permanent disability or severe injury due to accident.
Merit cum Means Scholarship - Children of MAK members residing in Kuwait or India would be awarded scholarship of Rs 10,000 for 10th Standard Students and Rs 20,000 for 12th standard students.

President Ramesh Kidiyoor also announced that scholarship of Rs 7,000, Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 would be awarded to the first three meritorious students respectively for the year of 2017-2018, for the following schools of the Mogaveera Community:
Mahalaksmi English Medium School, Uchila
Sagar Vidya Mandir,Beach Road, Padubidri
Further, outgoing members of the management committee Rekha Suvarna, Lakshmeesh Amin, Purandara Manchi and Jaya Kotian were honoured with mementos for their dedicated service to the association.
Dr Prabhakar Boloor was felicitated and honoured by the MAK management committee. Being a well-known and established paediatrician of Mogaveera community, he completed his MBBS from Stanley Medical College Madras, MD from KMC Mangaluru. He has worked in Iran on government deputation for 5 years. He has also been district health officer and got retired as superintendent of Lady Ghoschen Hospital Mangaluru. After retirement, he worked as medical superintendent at Fr Muller Hospital. In his speech, he informed that he was very thrilled to be a part of the event and motivated the MAK members to be united and work for the betterment of the community.
Outgoing member of the association Dadu Ram Sapaliga was honoured by the MAK management committee who was leaving Kuwait for good.
A sumptuous lunch was served by Classic Paragon hotel, Mirgab, Kuwait.
Prizes were given away to the winners of games. Nitesh and Shlok were among the kids for straw joining.

In her vote of thanks, Poonam Mendon expressed her gratitude to each and every member who supported to make the event successful.
The event came to an end with all the members hitting the dance floor followed by a group photo of the association and the national anthem.
