Kundapur, Dec 18: Konkan Kharvi community and some Hindu organizations held peaceful protests here urging for impartial enquiry into the recent mysterious death of Paresh Mesta in Honnavar. A procession in this connection was taken from Mahakali Temple to Kundapur Shastri Circle and then to Kundapur divisional office.
Hundreds of protesters in two lines walked for about a kilometre holding placards, objecting to the conclusion in the post-mortem report that it is a natural death and demanded justice in Paresh Mesta’s death.
Kharvi community leaders speaking in the office of assistant commissioner condemning the death of Paresh demanded impartial enquiry and compensation as the family is poor and the pillar of the family has been lost. They expressed suspicions in the report released by doctors and urged for investigations once again by other expert doctors. Tahasildar G M Borkar later received an appeal from the protesters in the presence of divisional officer. He assured that the memorandum will be sent to the government through the deputy commissioner.
