Moodbidri, Dec 18: Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji, head of Vajradehi Math, Gurpur, warned on Sunday December 17 of launching intense agitation if Priyanka from Dharegudde here, who went missing just two days ahead of her marriage, is not found and presented to her family within the next five days. With this, the Priyanka missing case has acquired a new dimension.
The Swamiji, who visited the residence of Priyanka on Sunday December 17, expressed unhappiness at the slow pace of police investigation in the case. "It has been ten days since the would-be bride went missing. There is no information about Priyanka, nor has the police been able to get any information," he said.
Activists of some Hindu organizations, interacting with the Swamiji, accused the police of paying a matter-of-factly visit to the residence of Hyder only once, without taking further interest in continuing with their probe seriously, even after the police were tipped about the fact that Hyder would have kidnapped the girl.
The Swamiji guessed that the disappearance of the girl would have been the result of an elaborate, careful planning and that there is likelihood of organizations like Popular Front of India, Karnataka Forum for Dignity etc having joined hands to plan and execute this kidnap. "The girl would not be having any inkling about things to come. Otherwise she would have shared this information with others. Although a letter written in her name has reached the family, it has been observed that there is change in address and handwriting is different. This means that Priyanka has been trapped by the racket. We need to break this racket. Organizations including womens' outfits should handle such cases seriously and take precautions to see that such incidents do not recur," he added.
The Swamiji said he would meet the district superintendent of police and deputy commissioner of the district to urge them to get involved urgently with the task of finding out the missing girl. He also instilled a sense of confidence in the family of Priyanka by assuring them that there is nothing to fear and that people and Hndu organizations are with them at this period of crisis.
Leaders of Hindu organizations like Sumitraj Dharegudde, Rajesh Suvarna, Vinodhar, Srinath Suvarna, Ashok Shetty, Sharat Shetty, Sandeep Suvarna, Harish Bhandary, vice president of Samaja Seva Sangha, Prakash Bhandary, organizing secretary, Prasad, and family members of Priyanka were present.
