Mangaluru: Peaceful end to kidnapping issue of girl student at Kotekar Beeri

Mangaluru, Dec 16: The incident of abduction of the girl student and driver of the car by another gang, that took place on Friday December 15, near Kotekar Beeri on NH 66 ended on a good note due to the intervention of the police.

A group of students from Uppal had come in a car to a mall in Mangaluru in order to celebrate the birthday party of one of their classmates. A person at the mall noticed a certain girl student belonging to a minority community, who is engaged to his relative and to be married soon. He alerted people in Uppal about this matter.

When the car carrying students after the birthday party reached Uppal, it was waylaid by the people of the would-be groom's side and the girl student and the driver of the car were taken forcibly away in another car.

The other students who were frightened by the sudden development informed the incident to the police with the help of some locals.

Police called the student on her mobile and she and the group who abducted her and the driver were asked to report to the police station.

The issue was resolved amicably after the police heard their versions.

No complaint is registered in this regard.
