Mangaluru Dec 15: Complaints poured in about excessive fares demanded by private buses and auto rickshaw drivers from the people during the police phone-in programme here on Friday, December 15.
A caller from Maryhill complained about the auto driver demanding excessive fare on meter at Maryhill and Lalbhag. Police commissioner T R Suresh said,” If auto rickshaws are found charging excessive fare note down the registration of the vehicle and complain. Stringent action will be taken against the driver,”
Caller from Urwa store mentioned about parking on the footpath in Urwa store and Ashoknagar stretch as it is a hindrance to the pedestrian. Police commissioner assured to attend the issue and clear the footpath by making one sided parking facility.
Complaint was also received about a bus conductor of route number 27 not giving back change.
Complaint was received about the traffic congestion in the areas likes of Nanthoor Circle and problem at the Mallikatta Circle. Police Commissioner said,” We are improving the traffic management at important circles and development is in progress by the MCC,”
On the issue of buses not issuing tickets in private buses, police commissioner said, “Tickets should be issued in every private bus. If anyone is found not issuing tickets then one can send complaint,”
“Buses are seen parking on the road at Kottara Chowki during the lunch time which obstructs other vehicles and passengers to cross the road,” said a caller from Kottara Chowki.
A caller from Shakthinagar demanded to put up humps at Shakthinagar Cross Road to control the speeding buses joining the main road. Commissioner asked the officials to take necessary action on the same.
A complaint was received against a private bus conductor who harasses students and does not give proper change to the passengers.
A complaint was received about the parking of seized vehicles on both sides of the road at Barke Police station and customers arriving to a clinic at Barke, parking their vehicles near a his residence gate which blocks the way. Commissioner in reply said, ”We have asked MCC to provide land to shift the seized vehicles and will attend to the parking problem at the clinic located at Barke.
A caller also requested to vacate the road side vegetable vendor which is close to Nandigudda bus stand.
A complaint was received about the dilapidated roads in Kulai – Panambur stretch, Police Commissioner T R Suresh said, ”We will discuss with NHAI and ask them to repair the road due to which there is slow traffic movement
Dealing with the problem of buses stopping on the road and smoke emission, police commissioner said, ”We are dealing with bus shelter locations. We will hold a drive along with pollution board, RTO to check the smoke emission of the vehicles,”
A caller from Bunder urged to provide a sincere officer to Bunder Police Station like Shantharam who had stopped ganja and drug cases in Bunder, but had been recently shifted to CCB.
A caller complained about disturbance created by scrap shop located near Ganesh Medicals in Kankanady.
Today total of 27 were received during phone-in programme.
