Kundapur, Dec 15: In a ghastly accident which happened in the early hours on Friday December 15, in which an auto rickshaw and a lorry were involved, a person lost his life while another was seriously injured.

After the lorry hit the three-wheeler with force, a passenger seated inside the auto rickshaw, who suffered grave injuries, died later. The auto rickshaw driver suffered serious injuries.

The person who lost his life was Ganesh Poojary (37) from Sorab. It is said that he was moving to the parental home of his wife at Kannadakudru island.

Ganesh had arrived at the town in a bus from Sorab and got down at Shastri Circle. He had hired an auto rickshaw to go to Kannadakudru. At about 2 am on Friday, he had called his wife to inform her that he would be home in five minutes. But as luck would have it, a lorry hit his auto rickshaw in front of Anugraha Hotel at Hemmady. The three-wheeler was mangled beyond recognition and both the driver and passenger were stuck inside the mangled remains.

Kota police station sub-inspector, Santosh Kaikini, and staff were going to Bhatkal on duty at that time. They rushed to help the victims after witnessing the accident. They rescued both the persons and arranged to shift both of them through two ambulances. But Ganesh Poojary died before reaching the hospital.
