Moodbidri, Dec 14: Number of foreign tourists visiting historically acclaimed Saavira Kambada Basadi here is on the rise
Over 150 tourists from various European countries including Italy, as well as Korea visited Saavira Kambada Basadi situated in the town, on Tuesday December 12 alone.
Swastisri Charukeerti Panditacharyavarya Swamiji of Jain Math here provided detailed information on stone sculptures, unique chiselling style and history pertaining to Basadis here, to the visiting tourists.
Every year, 18 Basadis in the area including Saavira Kambada Basadi have been attracting thousands of tourists. The number of tourists from other countries to the town, also known as 'Jaina Kashi', has been steadily going up with each passing year.
Foreign tourists usually visit Goa, beaches of coastal Karnataka and Basadis in Karkala between October and December.
The Swamiji expressed pride at the fact that this town and its Basadis are turning into one of the favourite spots among foreign tourists.
