Mangaluru Dec 14: State government has sanctioned compensation of Rs 5 lac each to the families of SDPI worker Ashraf Kalai and RSS worker Sharath Madiwala, who were murdered in two separate incidents around two months ago, informed U T Khader, minister for food and civil supplies.
Addressing media here on Thursday December 14, U T Khader said,"Ashraf Kalai and Sharath Madiwala were murdered during the unrest in the district. We had assured to give compensation from the government to the kin of both the deceased. As per the assurance government has now sanctioned Rs 5 lac each to both families,”
Aam Aadmi scheme
“Central government has not provided people-friendly schemes and also discontinued schemes such Aam Aadmi scheme. Aam Aadmi scheme had tie-up with the LIC and has now deprived the people of benefits. Beneficiaries of Aam Aadmi scheme were provided with Rs 30,000 in case of natural death, Rs 75,000 in case of accidental death and also Rs 1,200 per year for the students from 9th to II PUC to pursue their education. Now it has completely discontinued by the central government from past one month,”
Ration cards
"Total of 15.5 lac people had applied for ration cards out of which 11 lac ration cards were printed and they have reached to the families. 1.5 lac ration cards were rejected during verification and the remaining ration cards will be handled at the earliest. Point of Sale (POS) machine is a big success. Nearly 75% of shops have installed the POS machines,”
Appointment of judges
When asked about appointment of judges in consumer court, U T Khader said, "Judges have been appointed to consumer courts and there was delay in appointing the judges because private advocates opposed appointing retired judges to the consumer courts and the matter was in court which has now been cleared.
MRP for water bottles
When asked about charging excessive MRP price on water bottles and the supreme court orders on hotels, restaurants can sell bottled water above MRP, U T Khader said," My question is how can a same product, same quality and quantity with same design, water bottles can have dual prices? We will discuss with central consumer ministry in this regard,”
