Mangaluru, Dec 13: Valerian Texeira, resident of Jeppu Compound around Jeppu Seminary and St Joseph's Industrial Asylum Workshop in the city, addressing a press conference here, said that he and Victor Pais living at Jeppu Compound have been served with eviction notices by the local diocese.
He accused the church administration of trying to evict them because of the fact that he has come to know about the build up of revolt and the fear that scams of the administration will be exposed. He claimed that the two are being targeted because they are leading RTI activists of the region and have information about land scams of the diocesan authorities.
Texeira stated that the people living in Jeppu Compound seek immediate withdrawal of eviction notices served on the two persons. He also urged the diocese to stop exercising authority over Jeppu Compound and demanded that the people living there be given their legal rights over their house properties.
He further demanded that all dealings and land transfers on revenue account No. 56 be stopped till the complaint filed with the district deputy commissioner over a particular land scam is disposed off. He further urged the church to shop eying landed property.
Texeira demanded that till the complaint lodged by him with the deputy commissioner of the district relating to alleged land scam is disposed off, all land transfers and dealings relating to this land should be stopped. He said that if these demands are not met, he and other residents of the area will undertake vigorous forms of protests.
Victor Pais, Wilson Baptist, Cecilia Pais and Enid Texeira were present at the press conference.
